We are pleased to announce that our guest speaker for the evening will be Matthew Barber, Police and Crime Commissioner for Thames Valley.
Now in his second three-year term as PCC, following his role as Deputy PCC between 2017 and 2021, Mr Barber has led significant improvements across the region’s policing and criminal justice partnerships. Under his leadership, Thames Valley has seen record numbers of police officers and falling levels of crime.
During the evening, Mr Barber will share insights into his continued work tackling crime across the region, supporting victims, and strengthening community safety. He will also discuss key initiatives including:
The PCC’s Community Fund, supporting local groups through grants funded by the sale of seized criminal assets
New support schemes for road accident victims
Guidance for residents and businesses on tackling cybercrime
The rollout of live facial recognition technology across Thames Valley
Ongoing efforts to address knife crime, shoplifting and vehicle crime
Mr Barber has also pledged to continue working constructively with Thames Valley Police’s Chief Constable to deliver further improvements across the force.
This formal dinner will provide an excellent opportunity to hear first-hand about the progress being made, the challenges ahead, and how businesses and community partners can continue to play a role in creating safer communities.
