Milton Keynes Business Leaders (MKBLP) celebrated the achievements of the City’s students last night, by attending and presenting at the annual, MK College, Student of The Year awards.

MKBLP sponsored the award’s Business Category and acting MKBLP Chairman, Nicholas Mann, had the privilege of presenting the award to the winner of the coveted category, Mykenlande ‘Mickey’ Dorasin.

Judges praised Mickey for her tenacity and ability to overcome initials struggles after a move from the Turks and Caicos Islands to complete her education at Milton Keynes College, gaining her Maths and English qualifications, and completing a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business.  Mickey, who has expressed an interest in marketing, is now pursuing an apprenticeship after completing a successful work experience stint with People in Flow.

In addition to winning the Business Award, Mickey was also honoured with the ‘Overall Student of the Year’ award at the ceremony which was held at the Sculpture Gallery, Woburn Abbey.

“MKBLP is committed to building an economically vibrant and dynamic environment for businesses to thrive and succeed within Milton Keynes.” Nicholas Mann commented: “MK college is a vital component within this commitment, and it is essential that we, as business leaders in the community, celebrate and harness the new talent coming through, as it is this generation which will ultimately shape the future business landscape of Milton Keynes.”
